SAP FI — Define Fiscal Year Variant| OB29

The fiscal year is a time period used to prepare the financial statements in organizations. In SAP, Fiscal year variant is a variant that controls parameters for a financial year, such as managing financial accounting year and posting period variants to open and close posting periods.

Fiscal year could be based on the calendar year as well as based on your needs. The posting periods could be 16 in total where 12 are equivalent to the calendar months of the year, but the remaining 4 could be used for the year-end closing activities.
